Your local phone repair shop

The shop Middletown trusts for any phone

MDrepairs is a local cell phone repair shop serving Middletown and all of Monmouth County from our lab at 644 Newman Springs Road in Lincroft. We repair every kind of smartphone, Apple iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, Motorola, OnePlus, LG and more, from cracked screens and tired batteries to charging ports, water damage and shattered back glass, with fair quotes, quality parts, and most repairs finished the same day.

What sets us apart is who is behind the bench. We are the data-recovery lab that millions of people follow online, where lead technician Joseph Montanti films real recoveries and board-level repairs watched hundreds of millions of times. That same micro-soldering skill goes into every phone repair, including soldered charging ports and board faults that mall kiosks and chains send away. When you walk in, you talk to the person who actually fixes your phone. For a free quote in the Middletown NJ area, call 732-933-7717 or use our online quote form.

We keep the whole process simple and fair. Every repair begins with a free estimate so you know exactly what is wrong and what it costs before you spend anything, and you get a clear, written price you approve before any work starts, no surprises and no pressure to add things you do not need. Most screen, battery and charging-port repairs are done the same day, often while you wait. And because your photos and contacts are precious, a standard repair never touches your data, and when a phone is too far gone to fix, our recovery lab can still rescue what is on it.

Phone repair, in depth

A closer look at the phone repairs we do every day

The problems below are the ones we see most in Middletown and across Monmouth County, on phones of every brand. Here is how we diagnose and fix each one, why most cost far less than a new phone, and what you can expect when you bring your phone to our Lincroft lab.

01 / Glass, LCD & OLED

Cracked phone screen repair, for any brand

A cracked screen is by far the most common reason people walk into our Lincroft shop, and on most phones it is a same-day fix that costs a fraction of replacing the whole device.

A technician lifting a replacement smartphone display assembly with its ribbon cable away from an opened phone on a repair bench

Modern phone screens are really two parts working together: the glass and display you look at, and the digitizer layer underneath that senses your touch. A drop can damage either or both, which is why a cracked phone can still respond to touch one day and stop the next, or develop lines, flickering, dark patches, bright spots or a touchscreen that registers taps you never made. None of that means the phone is finished, it almost always means the display assembly needs replacing, and that is one of our fastest repairs.

The right replacement depends on the phone. Many iPhones and flagship Samsung Galaxy phones use OLED panels, which produce deeper blacks and richer color but cost more to replace, while a lot of budget and mid-range Android phones use LCD screens that are far more affordable. Some phones fuse the glass and display into a single sealed assembly, and others let us replace just the outer glass, which changes both the price and the time involved. When you bring your phone in, we identify exactly what it needs and quote it honestly, so you are never paying flagship prices for a budget repair or the other way around.

Quality matters more than people realize with screens. A cheap, low-grade panel can look dim, render color poorly, drain the battery faster, lose touch sensitivity over time or stop working entirely within weeks. We fit quality assemblies that match how your phone left the factory, and we back every screen repair with our 90-day warranty, so you are protected if anything is not right. The result is a phone that looks, feels and responds exactly the way it did before the crack.

There is one more reason not to put off a cracked screen: a small crack rarely stays small. Every flex of the phone in your pocket works the crack wider, and once it reaches the display layer underneath you can lose part of the picture or the touch response, turning an inexpensive glass repair into a full assembly replacement. Sharp edges can also cut your finger and let dust and moisture seep inside toward the battery and board. Repairing a crack early is almost always the cheaper, safer choice, and we will give you an honest opinion on whether yours can wait a little or should be done now.

02 / All-day power again

Phone battery replacement and swollen-battery safety

If your phone dies by the afternoon, shuts off randomly even with charge left, or feels sluggish, the battery, not the phone, is usually to blame, and replacing it is quick and affordable.

An opened smartphone on a repair bench with the rear cover removed exposing the battery and logic board, a pry tool lifting the battery

Every phone battery is a lithium cell with a limited number of charge cycles, typically a few hundred full charges before it noticeably weakens. As it ages it holds less and less power, so a phone that once lasted all day starts needing a top-up by lunch. Worse, a worn battery can no longer deliver power smoothly under load, which is why an aging phone suddenly shuts off at twenty or thirty percent, lags when you open apps, or restarts on its own. People often blame the phone and start shopping for a new one when a fresh battery would have brought it right back to life.

A battery replacement is one of the most satisfying repairs we do because the difference is immediate and dramatic. We fit a quality replacement cell, recalibrate where the phone supports it, and hand back a device that lasts through your day again, usually the same day you drop it off. For a fraction of the cost of a new phone, you keep the device you already know with all your apps, photos and settings exactly in place.

There is a safety side to batteries that we take seriously. A lithium battery that has started to fail can swell as gas builds inside it. A swollen battery pushes against the screen and can lift it off the frame, create a gap around the edges, make the phone rock on a flat surface, or in rare cases pose a fire risk. If you ever notice your screen bulging or separating, stop using the phone and bring it in promptly, do not press the screen back down or try to puncture the battery. We remove swollen batteries safely and dispose of them properly, then fit a fresh cell so your phone is safe to use again.

Charging habits affect how long a new battery lasts, so we will share a few simple pointers when you pick up. Heat is the real enemy of lithium batteries, so avoid leaving the phone on a hot dashboard or charging it under a pillow, and topping up through the day is gentler on the cell than always running it flat to zero. None of this is complicated, and with a quality replacement and reasonable care a fresh battery will give you years of dependable all-day life.

03 / Reliable charging

Charging port repair when your phone won’t charge

A phone that charges only when you hold the cable just right, charges painfully slowly, or refuses to charge at all is one of the most fixable problems we see, and it is rarely the phone giving up.

Extreme macro of a smartphone charging port flex being soldered under a microscope on a micro-soldering bench

The most common cause is simply a dirty port. Phones live in pockets and bags, and lint, dust and debris pack into the charging port over months until the cable can no longer seat properly. In a lot of cases what looks like a dying phone is solved by a careful, proper cleaning of the port, no parts required. We always check for that first, because the honest, inexpensive fix is the right one.

When cleaning is not enough, the port itself is usually worn or damaged. Charging ports take a beating from thousands of plug-ins and the occasional yanked cable, and the tiny pins inside bend, wear out or break. On some phones the port is a plug-in flex cable we can swap quickly, but on many modern phones the charging port is soldered directly to the logic board, which means it takes board-level micro-soldering to replace. That is exactly the kind of work most phone shops and mall kiosks send away or refuse, and it is everyday work for us, because board-level repair is the heart of our data-recovery lab.

Wireless charging gives us another way to diagnose and another thing to repair. If a phone charges fine on a wireless pad but not by cable, that points squarely at the port; if neither works, we look further into the charging circuit on the board. We can also repair a failed wireless charging coil on phones that support it. Whatever the path, we test the finished repair with several different cables and chargers before you pick up, so you leave confident your phone charges quickly and reliably every time.

A word on charging accessories, because they cause more trouble than people expect. A frayed cable or a cheap, underpowered charging brick can mimic a broken port exactly, charging slowly or cutting in and out, and a bad cable can even damage the port over time. When you bring a charging problem in, bring the charger and cable you normally use so we can test the whole chain, not just the phone. Sometimes the genuinely good news is that your phone is fine and a five-dollar cable was the culprit all along, and we would much rather tell you that than sell you a repair you did not need.

Water and liquid damage rescue

A phone that went in water, a pool, a drink or the toilet is a race against time, and what you do in the first hour, plus how fast you get it to us, makes all the difference.

A water-damaged phone logic board with visible corrosion being cleaned under a microscope, an ultrasonic cleaning tank in the background

Liquid damage is not really about the water itself, it is about what the water leaves behind. As moisture dries inside the phone it leaves minerals and starts corroding the tiny connections on the logic board, and that corrosion keeps spreading and doing damage long after the phone feels dry on the outside. This is why a phone can seem fine for a day or two after a spill and then suddenly stop charging, lose its screen, or die completely. The single best thing you can do is stop the corrosion early, which means getting the phone opened and professionally cleaned as soon as possible.

Please skip the old rice trick, it does not work and it wastes the time that actually matters. Rice cannot reach or neutralize the corrosion already forming on the board, and the days spent waiting only let the damage advance. The right first steps are simple: power the phone off immediately, do not plug it in to charge, do not keep pressing the power button to see if it turns on, and bring it to us quickly. Powering on or charging a wet phone can short the board and turn a recoverable phone into one that is not.

In our lab we open the phone, inspect the board under a microscope, and clean the liquid and corrosion off using the proper tools and an ultrasonic cleaning process where it helps. We trace which components were affected, repair or replace what is damaged, and test the phone thoroughly. Water damage is genuinely unpredictable, no honest shop can promise a result before they look, but our board-level experience gives your phone a far better chance than a screen-swap counter that cannot work at the component level.

And if the phone truly cannot be revived, your story is not over, because this is where being a data-recovery lab sets us apart. The photos, videos, messages and contacts on a water-damaged phone are usually what people care about most, and even when a phone will not power on, we can often recover that data directly from its memory. So when you bring us a phone that took a swim, you are not just hoping for a repair, you are putting it in the hands of the team that recovers data professionally, which is the best possible outcome whichever way the repair goes.

05 / Whole-phone repair

Back glass, frames, cameras, speakers and buttons

A phone is more than its front screen, and we repair the rest of it too, from shattered rear glass to cameras, speakers, microphones and buttons that have stopped doing their job.

The rear of a modern smartphone with shattered back glass on a repair bench beside a laser-separation machine and a heat plate

Cracked back glass became common once phones moved to glass backs for wireless charging, and it is one of the most-asked-about repairs we get. Beyond looking rough, broken rear glass leaves sharp edges that can cut you and exposes the internals to dust and moisture. Replacing it properly takes controlled heat and careful separation so the cameras, frame and wireless charging keep working, and we use the right tools to do it cleanly rather than the messy peel-and-glue approach. On many phones a back-glass repair costs a good deal less than people expect.

Cameras are another frequent fix. A drop can crack the rear camera lens, knock the autofocus out, or leave the picture blurry, spotty or completely black, and a damaged front camera can break video calls and face unlock. We replace front and rear camera modules and the protective lens glass, then test focus, flash and both cameras so every shot is sharp again. If your photos suddenly look foggy or washed out, it is often a cracked lens cover that is quick and inexpensive to swap.

Sound and buttons round out the everyday repairs. If callers cannot hear you, your mic may be blocked or failed; if you cannot hear them, it could be the earpiece or loudspeaker; and a phone that plays no media sound or sounds muffled often just needs a speaker replaced or a clogged grille cleared. We also fix unresponsive power and volume buttons, broken mute switches, and faulty fingerprint or face-unlock sensors. These small faults make a phone frustrating to live with, and most are quick, affordable repairs that bring the whole device back to normal.

Because we work on every part of the phone, you can often solve several annoyances in one visit. It is common for a phone to come in for a cracked screen and leave with a fresh battery and a cleaned charging port as well, all quoted up front and all under one 90-day warranty. Rather than living with a phone that is slowly falling apart, or replacing it over a couple of small faults, you can have it brought back to fully working condition in a single trip to a local shop you can actually talk to.

06 / Walk in, walk out

Same-day, walk-in phone repair you can drive to

Your phone holds your life, so being without it for days is not an option for most people. That is why we built our phone repair around speed, transparency and the simple fact that we are right down the road.

A cracked smartphone face-up on a clean phone repair bench surrounded by precision screwdrivers, spudgers, tweezers and a parts tray

Most common phone repairs, a cracked screen, a tired battery, a worn charging port, are finished the same day you bring the phone in, and many are done while you wait in well under an hour once we have the part. Because we are a local shop and not a kiosk that ships your phone to a distant facility, there is no waiting a week and no wondering where your phone is. You drop it off or wait, you talk to the technician doing the work, and you walk out with a working phone the same day in the great majority of cases.

Everything starts with a free, no-pressure estimate. We identify your phone, check exactly what is wrong, and give you a clear written price before any work begins, with no diagnostic fee just to look. You decide whether to go ahead, and you only pay once you have approved the quote, so there are never surprises on the final bill and never pressure to add repairs you do not need. If we think a repair is not worth doing on a particular phone, we will tell you honestly and help you figure out the best next step.

Being local also means real accountability. When you use a faceless chain or a mail-away service, a problem after the repair means a phone call to a call center or another shipping label. When you use us, the same technician who fixed your phone is right here in Lincroft, and our 90-day warranty is backed by a real local business with a reputation built on documented work watched by millions. If anything related to your repair is not right, you bring it back to a person, not a queue.

We serve Middletown and all of Monmouth County from our lab at 644 Newman Springs Road in Lincroft, an easy drive from Red Bank, Holmdel, Hazlet, Tinton Falls, Eatontown and the surrounding towns. Whether you searched for phone repair near me, cell phone repair near you, or same-day screen repair, you have found a local team that does it all, for every brand, in one place. Walk in during business hours, or call us first at 732-933-7717 so we can have the right parts ready for your model when you arrive.

Before you visit

What to do before you bring your phone in

A few simple things make your repair faster and protect your data. None of them are required, when in doubt, just bring the phone in and we'll take it from there.

  1. Back it up if you can

If the phone still powers on, a quick backup to iCloud, Google or a computer protects your photos and contacts. A standard screen or battery repair never touches your data, but a backup is smart insurance, and if you are not sure how, we are glad to help.

  2. Know or note your passcode

We may need to power the phone on and test the touchscreen, cameras and buttons after a repair, which means unlocking it. Knowing your passcode (and your Apple ID or Google password if asked) lets us fully verify the fix before you leave.

  3. If it got wet, power it off now

Do not try to charge a wet phone and skip the rice, it does nothing for corrosion. Power the phone off and bring it in as fast as possible. With liquid damage, every hour counts toward whether we can save it.

  4. Bring the whole phone

You do not need the box, charger or case, just the phone itself. If a specific accessory is part of the problem, like a charger that stopped working, bring that too so we can test the real cause.

Same-day screens, batteries and charging ports on popular models, walk-ins welcome, and a 90-day warranty.

How it works

How your phone repair goes

Four simple steps, no surprises, no pressure, and a price you approve before we open the phone.

  1. Free estimate

Bring your phone in and we identify the exact problem and your model, then quote it, no pressure to fix.

  2. A price you approve first

You get a clear written price explaining the fault, the repair and the cost. Nothing happens until you say yes.

  3. Expert repair, often same-day

Using professional micro-tools we replace the screen, battery, port or glass, with board-level work on the jobs that need it.

  4. Tested & 90-day warranty

We test the touch, cameras, speakers, charging and signal before you pick up, all backed by our 90-day warranty.

Repair or replace?

Is it worth repairing your phone?

We will always give you a straight answer. For the great majority of phones, a screen, battery or charging-port repair costs a small fraction of a new phone and keeps the device you already know, with all your apps and data exactly where they are.

Usually worth repairing

  • A cracked screen, worn battery, or charging port on a phone you otherwise like and that still gets updates.
  • The repair costs far less than a new phone or the rest of a carrier financing contract.
  • You want to keep your number, your apps, and your photos in place without the hassle of switching phones.
  • The fault is a single part, and the rest of the phone works perfectly once it is fixed.

Replacement may make sense

  • A very old phone with severe damage that has also stopped getting security updates.
  • Multiple major faults at once, where the combined repair approaches the value of the phone.
  • You were already due for an upgrade and the damage simply made the timing clear.

Either way, a quick diagnosis tells us exactly what is going on. If repairing isn't worth it on your phone, we will say so plainly, and we can still get your photos, contacts and data off it so nothing is lost when you move to a new device. The mistake we see most is people replacing a perfectly good phone over a cracked screen or a dead battery, an inexpensive fix, and the opposite, pouring money into a phone that is genuinely at the end of the road. Our job is to keep you from either one. We have no interest in selling you a repair you do not need, and because we are the lab that recovers data for people across the country, our reputation depends on giving you the honest answer.

FAQs

Cell phone repair FAQ

Straight answers to the questions Middletown phone owners ask us most.

How much does a cracked phone screen repair cost in Middletown, NJ?

It depends on your phone, because a screen for a budget Android costs far less than an edge-to-edge OLED on a flagship. That is exactly why every visit starts with a free estimate: we identify your model, check whether the touch and display still work, and give you a firm written price before any work begins. You only pay once you approve the quote, with no diagnostic fee and no surprises on the final bill.

Is it worth repairing my phone or should I just buy a new one?

For most repairs, fixing is the smart move. A screen, battery or port repair costs a fraction of a new phone and a few hundred dollars in carrier financing, and it keeps the phone you already know with all your apps and data in place. We will always give you a straight answer, and if a phone truly is not worth repairing, we will tell you and help you get your data off it.

Can you repair my phone the same day?

For the most common jobs, yes. Cracked screens, battery replacements, and charging-port fixes on popular iPhone, Samsung and Google Pixel models are usually done while you wait or the same day, often in under an hour once we have the part. If your phone needs a part we have to order, or it needs board-level micro-soldering, we tell you the realistic timeline up front so you are never left guessing.

Will I lose my photos, contacts or data during a phone repair?

A standard screen, battery or charging-port repair does not touch your data, everything stays exactly as it was. We still recommend a backup before any repair as a safeguard. And if your phone is dead or water-damaged and the data is what matters most, we are first and foremost a data-recovery lab, so we can often rescue your photos and contacts even from a phone that will not turn on. If the data is the priority, start with our cell phone data recovery service.

What phone brands do you fix?

Every major brand. We repair Apple iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, Motorola, OnePlus, LG and more, across screens, batteries, charging ports, back glass, cameras and water damage. If it is a smartphone, bring it in and we will diagnose it for free. For deep model-by-model detail you can also see our dedicated iPhone repair and Samsung Galaxy repair pages.

My phone got wet. What should I do, and can you save it?

Power it off, do not try to charge it, and do not put it in rice, which does nothing for the corrosion already starting inside. Bring it to us as fast as you can. The sooner we open it, clean the liquid off the board, and treat the corrosion, the better your odds. Water damage is unpredictable, but our board-level skill gives your phone, and the photos and contacts on it, the best possible chance.

My phone battery dies fast or shuts off. Can you replace the battery?

Yes, and it is one of our quickest jobs. Lithium batteries wear out after a few hundred charge cycles, which causes fast drain, random shutdowns, slow performance and sometimes a swollen back or lifted screen, which is a safety issue you should not ignore. A genuine-quality replacement battery restores all-day life and makes an older phone feel new again, usually same day.

The screen is cracked but it still works. Should I still fix it?

It is worth fixing sooner rather than later. A cracked screen lets dust and moisture reach the display and digitizer underneath, and a small crack often spreads into dead spots, lines, ghost touches or a black screen. Repairing it early is usually cheaper and protects the rest of the phone. We will give you an honest opinion on whether it can wait or should be done now.

Can you fix a phone charging port that is loose or will not charge?

In most cases, yes. A phone that charges only at a certain angle, charges slowly, or will not charge at all usually has a worn, dirty or damaged charging port, or a failing port flex cable. We clean or replace the port, including board-level soldered ports on phones where it is not a simple plug-in part, and test it with several cables so you leave with a phone that charges reliably.

Do you replace cracked back glass?

Yes. Shattered rear glass is common on modern phones and we replace it cleanly using the proper heat-and-separation tools, keeping your cameras, frame and wireless charging intact. Beyond looking bad, broken back glass leaves sharp edges and exposes the internals, so it is worth repairing, and on many models it costs less than people expect.

Do I need an appointment, or can I just walk in?

Walk-ins are welcome at our Lincroft lab during business hours, and you are also free to call ahead so we can have the right parts ready for your model. Either way you get a free estimate first and a price you approve before any repair starts, plus a 90-day warranty on the work.

Do you offer a warranty on phone repairs?

Yes. Every phone repair we do is backed by our 90-day warranty covering the parts we install and the workmanship. If something related to the repair is not right, bring it back and we will make it right. Repairing locally also means you deal with the same technician who did the work, not a faceless counter or a shipping label.

What our customers say

  • Joe at MDrepairs was absolutely on point. Had to bring an old android of mine back to life and I know it was no easy task. MDrepairs was the 3rd company I called and the only ones that were able to get the job done. He had to go above and beyond by sourcing parts from a donor phone. The repair was done ahead of time and he communicated the entire time. Very straight forward process and I couldn't be any happier! I recommend MDrepairs for any cellphone work and will contact them first next time. Thanks again!

  • Lost my SSD after a hard reset and i thought the world ended. After 2 days of stress and hell, i made the trip and dropped my drive to these guys that i kept watching their insta videos and never thought that i would be one of their customers. I paid the rush fee and within 24 hours and a few extra minutes my business came back to life like tragedy never struck in the first place. They saved everything i thought i lost. Great guys, awesome communication. So if you are like me, and one day you lost your data, photos, videos and what not, take a deep breath and call these guys. Life is not over yet until you give them a chance to help you. Fairly priced for the job, definitely some money saving compare to those big companies on the internet, that quote you thousands of dollars making you question if what you lost is priceless indeed as they are ready to charge you an arm and a leg. So with all that ordeal in mind, I Would highly recommend MD anytime, to anyone!!

  • Thanks for the memories! We had this device for almost 10 years. It contained some of the earliest memories of our kids. My wife was devastated when it randomly stopped working. I saw an MD Repairs video and thought I'd give it a shot. Joe was great to work with, very responsive, and was able to restore pictures and videos from our family's early days. Thank you so very much!

  • I brought a broken external hard drive in for repair, and had an excellent experience working with Joe. He was super accommodating and really took the time to explain everything in detail. Turned out, the drive was completely shot and required some surgery to recover the data. His work is masterful! Highly recommend if you're looking for someone who's both knowledgeable and fair.
